Rent a car Crete with Cretarent car rental Terms and conditions.
These Terms and Conditions along with our “Privacy Policy” apply to every service provided by our Company “Cretarent PC” (GEMI no 144514627000), whose registered office is located at 30 Efodou Street, Heraklion, Crete, Postal Code 71303, with VAT no. 800901627, tel: +30 6945 805577, email: through its website (hereinafter referred to as the Company). They do not constitute the final contract for our car rental services. The hiring of the car will take place under a separate rental agreement, which is to be concluded at a later date between the Company and the Driver, upon car pickup.

Driver's Age

The Driver must be 22 years old and hold a driver’s licence for at least 12 months before the conclusion of the rental agreement, in order to be able to hire a car from our Company. The driver’s licence must be in force at the time of the conclusion of the rental agreement. The driving licence must be Greek, European (i.e. a driver’s licence issued by an EU Member State) or international and must be presented to us at the time of conclusion of the rental agreement. The Driver must also be a holder of one of the credit or debit cards which are accepted by the Company, in order to take place a) any preauthorization/commitment of the security deposit and b) the payment of the rental price.

Driving License

If the renter doesn't have a European driving License, or a driving license in another language besides Greek or English, then an International license must be presented.

Additional Drivers

Any additional drivers must meet the above age limits, hold a Greek, European or international driving licence for at least 12 months and be named in the rental agreement. No one other than the Driver and the additional drivers named in the rental agreement may drive the Company's hired car. The Company does not impose any additional charges for additional drivers.

Online Reservations

Car rental reservations are made through the Company's website after following the following procedure:
1) When you enter the Company’s website, in order to submit a booking request, you must enter the pick up and drop off location of the car, the pick up time (rental start date) and drop off time (rental end date) of the car, as well as select the car category you are interested in.
2) According to the criteria you have chosen, you will be presented with different offers. Each offer contains the car category, the basic package of benefits and the total price you need to pay for the rental period you have chosen on Step 1. After selecting the offer of your choice, do not forget to add one or more of our extra services ie GPS navigator, Baby seat/ Child seat/ Booster etc.
3) Then the summary of your booking reservation will appear on your screen. Once you have checked all the details and found them correct, proceed to fill in the Electronic Booking Form with the Driver's personal information and the additional information required to enable the Driver to collect the car. Note: Where an airport or port is specified as the place of the car pickup, the flight or departure details must be provided to the Company at least the day before pickup, otherwise the booking will be considered cancelled. For the Company's cancellation policy see below "Modification of Booking and Cancellation Policy".
4) Choose one of the available payment methods (paypal, cash upon arrival, card upon arrival).
5) In order to submit the booking request, you need to choose the “Confirm & Checkout” button. Before submitting the request, you are required to select the “I agree to the Terms and Conditions and the Privacy Policy” checkbox after you become aware through a special link of the present Car Rental Terms and Conditions and the Privacy Policy. By checking the above box you confirm that you have read and accepted the present Car Rental Terms and Conditions and our Privacy Policy.
6) By following this procedure you have submitted to our company a booking request for a specific car category, which includes different cars’ models with similar characteristics. All booking requests are subject to the Company’s acceptance.
7) As your booking confirmation, you will receive a “Booking Confirmation” email, which shall include your booking confirmation reference number and the car model.

Ticket and Traffic Fine

The driver is responsible for any traffic ticket or fine received during the rental period. The Driver must inform the Company immediately of any such fines or tickets.

Petrol Policy/ Fuel Policy

Fuel is not included in the rental price. The Driver is obliged to return the car with the same amount of fuel with which they received it. The quantity of fuel is recorded in the rental agreement at the time of pickup. If the Driver returns the car with less fuel, they will be charged the value of the remaining fuel as determined by the Price and Fuel Observatory of the Ministry of Development and Investment for the area in which the car was received by the Driver.

Car rental period

Minimum rental length is 5 days. If you require a period less than that, please contact us for more details. If a delay occurs at the end of the rental period, the first hour isn't charged. For the next 3 hours there is a 10 euros charge per hour. For over a 4 hour delay, a daily rate is charged.


In the event of an accident, the Driver must cooperate with the Company and the authorities in the following:
If the car is involved in an accident, the Driver must immediately inform the Company and the Police. Under no circumstances should the driver abandon the vehicle. In the event that an Incident Report is not made to the Police, the Driver will be liable for the total cost of repairing the car, up to its full value. It is prohibited for the Driver to have the car repaired by anyone other than the car mechanics working with the Company.

Late car returning

You must return the rented car at the designated place and on the date and time stated on the rental contract. First hour delay in return is not charged as long as our company is informed, otherwise an amount will be topped up/charged to your final price (next 3 hours are charged at €10 per hour).

Delivery & Collection of cars

After-hours deliveries (23:30 - 07:30) are subject to a €20 charge payable on arrival. The same charge implies for bookings that their flights are delayed.


There is no Fee for cancellation if cancellations take place 4 days in advance, Otherwise a fee will apply!
Cretarent has the right to cancel any confirmed reservation at any time (before the car rental period has started or during the rental period), if the client misbehaves or disregards the company's rental policies.

Cancellation Process

Cancellations or modifications must be made directly through our website or by contacting our customer service team. Please have your reservation details available for a smooth process.

Modification of the Booking and Cancellation Policy

Any changes to the booking details, including changes to the pickup/ drop off dates, pickup/drop off times or type of car are subject to the Company's availability of vehicles and may incur additional charges. You may cancel your booking without additional charge up to four (4) days prior to the commencement of the rental period or you will be liable for full payment of the car rental amount. You can cancel or modify your booking by contacting our customer service. Refunds in case of prepayment with Paypal: For prepaid reservations, if the reservation is cancelled up to four (4) days before the start of the rental, the total amount of the reservation will be refunded to you. No amendments or cancellations of bookings are accepted during the rental period. There are no refunds, in case of early return of the car before the end date of the rental period.


The Company is not responsible for typographical or technical errors on its website that have occurred unintentionally, by error or omission or due to technical failure or force majeure in good faith. Within the framework of good faith and business ethics, the Company is not obliged to accept a reservation and conclude a car rental contract if, due to a typographical, technical or computer error, the rental amount indicated in the offer is lower or higher than the valid rental amount for the period in question.


No refunds will be provided for cancellations made after the start of the rental period. Once the rental period begins, the reservation is considered non-refundable.

Payment Methods

Paypal: If you choose this payment method, full payment of the rental amount is expected at the time of the booking request. Payment upon arrival by cash or card: Visa, Mastercard, Maestro and Debit cards are accepted. Please contact us for more information on payment methods.

Security Deposit

Our prices include 100% full insurance with no excess, except for our SUVs with manual and automatic transmission, as well as Cabrio B cars, for which a €500 security deposit is required. The deposit is paid upon car pickup by the Driver and is refundable after the end of the rental period if there are no outstanding financial obligations. The amount of the security deposit is bound to the Driver's card and is returned in full if no additional charges are incurred.


In exceptional circumstances (e.g., documented emergencies or extenuating situations), we encourage customers to reach out to our customer service team. We will assess these situations on a case-by-case basis.

No-Show Policy:

If you do not pick up the rIf you do not show up to pick up the vehicle at the scheduled time, you are obliged to pay the full amount of the rental price. In case of prepayment via Paypal no refunds will be made.ental vehicle at the scheduled time and fail to cancel the reservation, no refund will be provided.


Any modifications to the reservation, including changes to dates, times, or vehicle type, may be subject to availability and possible rate changes.

Rental Agreement

The car rental agreement is concluded upon receipt of the car by the Driver, between the Company and the Driver. The rental agreement document contains the terms of the car rental, the description of the car, the details of the parties, the rental period, the rental price etc. By signing the rental agreement, the driver confirms the validity and accuracy of the above information, accepts the present Car Rental Terms and Conditions, the terms of the rental as stated in the rental agreement and the receipt of the rental car at the time of the conclusion of the rental agreement. Any partial or total invalidity of any of the above terms shall not affect the validity of the remaining terms and the contractual relationship in general between the Driver and the Company. The Driver is obliged to keep a copy of the Car Hire Contract and to show it to the competent authorities in case of inspection.

Booking Period

Please note that cancellations or modifications are only permissible within the booking period specified in your reservation.

Rentals outside the border and ferries

Transporting the car to and from any other island or the mainland is not permitted. All insurances will be rejected and the renter will be responsible for any damage caused, if the vehicle is driven elsewhere than on the Cretan Island. Written permission by our firm is mandatory for any renter who wishes to use ferries and transporting the rental car to another island.

Alcohol, drugs and Driving

For neglectful or drunken driving, driving while intoxicated with illegal substances, prohibited countries/areas, evident disregarding actions to the car, the renter is fully accountable for all charges.

The collision damage waiver (CDW) does not cover, if damages caused by driving on bumpy/rough roads on parts such as: Transmission, drive shafts, or other parts in/on or under the vehicle's.

Vehicle key loss

The customer is responsible for all the charges to replace car keys which have been damaged or lost.

Pick up and Drop off locations

This is free to most of our locations listed on our online system. For delivery to certain places there is a small extra cost. Please contact us for more information.

Baby Seat/ Child Seat/ Booster

Baby Seats/ Child Seats/ Boosters are free of charge and available upon Driver’s request. Roof racks are provided free of charge if available. The Driver should submit a request to the Company at least one week before the start of the rental for availability.

Select a car for your needs

Choose your car according to the type of holiday you plan to have in Crete. You may decide to rent a bigger car and to travel with a lot of suitcases and for a long period of time. This will make your stay very comfortable and hassle free. But if you decide to stay within city limits and you are on a tight budget and want fuel efficiency, choose a compact, economy car.

Also take in account your daily schedule for visiting the island. Do you need a car to drive around beaches and in cities for shopping or you prefer to explore villages in high mountains and narrow roads. Choose what is suitable for your vacation and include all aspects, i.e. children, large load of luggage etc.
